Nomad Norwoods

From Quito to NYC and all the places in between

a Change of perspective

We are embarking on an eleven month adventure from September 2022 to August 2023. Travelling to Ecuador, Galapagos, Columbia and various other destinations (which we haven't quite ironed out yet) and ending in New York.

The aim of this website is to be a link for us to share with our nearest and dearest where we are and what we are doing.

If anyone else stumbles across this then you are very welcome.

As you can see it was very busy. It was also very sunny and very hot.

The views of Rio from the top were also impressive. We would recommend this over Sugarloaf Mountain.

Christ the Redeemer

Friday was the day we went up the mountain to see Jesus, well the statue of Christ the Redeemer anyway.

Charlotte didn't quite manage to get Jesus' head in the shot.

Rio de Janeiro

We arrived in Rio, after a short visit to Brasilia, on Wednesday. We had a very pleasant flight. It was funny as we got off the plane in Brasilia to transfer to our next flight to Rio and were then told it was the same plane at the same gate: result!

Rio is a really great place to be. It has a vibe to it, much like London or New York, and feels like we are in a European city. The people here are amazing and so friendly (they love the kids and Posy is lapping up the attention) and everything is still cheap!

On Thursday we took a trip up Sugarloaf Mountain to check out the city from this vantage point. That stretch of sand behind us is Copacabana Beach.

Posy in her new rain coat.

Isabella in our Rio pad.

Mangal Das Garcas

On Tuesday we went to Mangal Das Garcas which is a zoobotanical park. We tried to come here yesterday, but it was closed. There were lots of birds and reptiles from this amazon region in the park.

On Monday we went back to the waterfront area to explore more of the city.

It is very hot and very humid here!

The mouth of the amazon

We arrived in Belem in the early hours of Sunday morning and decided to explore the city while we waited for our room to be ready. Belem is a port city situated on the Amazon delta. Brazil is wonderful; the people are really friendly and everything is cheap!!
